Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy similar to coaching but works primarily with the more powerful sub-conscious emotional mind.
Hypnotherapy is similar to a structured coaching process working with the client to build rapport and uses structured questioning to establish the nature of the issue.
Once the issue has been identified with the client a variety of techniques can be used to engage the sub-conscious mind. The sub-conscious mind is incredibly powerful, protecting us and maintaining our bodily functions – keeping us alive and safe 24/7.
It is no surprise therefore, that if the sub-conscious mind decides it doesn’t want to do something that it sees as a potential threat for fear of failure and protecting the client’s self-esteem for example, the client will meet resistance in trying to reach their goal.
Hypnotherapy works with the client’s sub-conscious to reduce this resistance through a series of techniques that ‘talk to’ the sub-conscious mind rather than the logical mind.
Through a number of structured sessions the sub-conscious and conscious minds are brought into ‘alignment’ helping the client move closer to their goal.

Coaching has been described as ‘holding a mirror up to the client’ allowing the client to see a new perspective on an issue or see themselves in a new light becoming more self-aware in the process.
Coaching can mean different things to different people but there is a simple truth that the client is at the centre of the coaching relationship.
The coach acts as a facilitator – helping the client to discover new insights about themselves or a particular issue.
The coaching process is a structured process with the client and the coach first creating rapport through deep listening.
Through this listening and clarifying process the coach starts to develop meaningful insights into the client’s world, building rapport and is able to work effectively with the client, helping them to understand an issue, seek out new resources and agree a plan of action.
Coaching can be both a challenging and exhilarating experience for both the coach and the client – allowing the client to break new ground with new resources and the knowledge that they have the inner resources to overcome obstacles whilst working towards their personal goal.
And if conventional coaching doesn’t provide the client with all the necessary resources, hypnotherapy provides a further option to elicit further resources from within the sub-conscious mind.
