People seek counselling for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes these may be clearly identified, such as relationship difficulties, depression, stress, anxiety, bereavement, self-harm, abuse etc. However, sometimes problems are less well-defined and may be more of a general unhappiness, confusion, dissatisfaction with life, feeling distant or different.
Jacky can work with these and a wide variety of other issues, offering short term counselling for those wanting brief, more solution focused outcomes, and on a longer term basis for more in depth exploration of those with complex, persistent, repeating patterns of issues – depending on what is needed and appropriate for each case.
Jacky offers a safe, confidential service, working in a collaborative way with clients exploring their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This helps to facilitate an increased personal awareness, an understanding of how past experiences may be affecting life today, the way a client relates to themselves and others, enabling personal growth and change and addressing the difficulties brought to counselling.
Jacky is a Registered and Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP), qualified as both an individual and a couple counsellor.
Jacky has a broad range of experience, having practised in a number of different settings including a large Leeds counselling agency and a leading family support charity. She is also a qualified breastfeeding counsellor and has worked in hospitals and support groups in South Africa.
