Biomechanics is the application of mechanical laws to living structures, specifically the locomotor system of the human body.
The role of the podiatrist is to realign the whole of the lower limb with the rest of the body. To maximise symbiosis of muscle balance and joints during both open and closed kinetic chain movement.
Typical treatment schedule:
Initial consultation – one hour.
Will include looking at the whole of the body both stood, prone, supine and walking.
Running may be fit into the Initial Consultation time pending.
Casting for made to measure Orthoses can be done at this time if necessary.
Comfortable clothes should be worn and shorts/trainers brought if you are a runner or attend a gym regularly.
Follow up Consultations – 30mins
Made to Measure Orthoses take two weeks to be made.
Six week review Consultation after Orthoses are fitted then a three month and six month review after that.
An annual review is recommended if you wear Orthoses to check the Orthoses are still working correctly and are not wearing too quickly.
The joy of Pure Treatment Rooms is the space and room to be able treat all age ranges and variety of injuries. The ability to be able to cross refer patients as and when it is necessary allows patients to stay at the same place and be treated by people they know and trust. Although I am a Podiatrist I appreciate the need to cross refer patients to other modalities to gain the best outcome for my patients. A large treadmill allows for running video gait analysis. The Pilates suite allows for cross treatment to improve core strength and Wayne Morton to treat deep muscle injuries. There is a symbiosis of Practitioners and treatments available.
